Sir Peter Birkett, the founder of Fountain Head House school is an entrepreneur with over 35 years experience in the education sector. Sir Peter created the UK’s first college-led federation made up of one further education college, two primary academies, two secondary academies and three vocational skills academies.
Previously employed as CEO of GEMS Education, one of the largest private education providers in the world, Sir Peter Birkett has served as a government adviser, as well as presiding over several national boards and presenting at national and international conferences.
In addition to his role at Fountain Head House School, Sir Peter Birkett is the Founder of Highgate Hill House School, also a co-educational independent SEN school located in the idyllic calm of the British countryside on the border of Devon and Cornwall.
In its first Ofted inspection in October 2017, Highgate Hill House School was graded ‘Good’ across four main areas: outcomes for pupils; personal development, behaviour and welfare; quality of teaching, learning and assessment; and effectiveness of leadership and management.
Highgate Hill House School has also been shortlisted for five awards nationally, including: ‘Best Newcomer’ and ‘Employer of the Year’ at the Investors in People Awards 2020; ‘Special Needs Initiative’ at the TES Independent School Awards 2019; and ‘Education Business of the Year’ and ‘New Market Entrant’ at the Education Investor Awards 2018.
